There are plenty of carpettypes to choose from. A variety of carpet patterns and colors can be chosen to satisfy any personal style and match any decor. When considering affordability, carpet is one of the most affordable flooring products to have installed.
Its insulating properties provide additional warmth underfoot during cold seasons and it is a non-slip surface that is safe and offers a cushion to prevent breakage.
Most synthetic carpets are treated with static, stain, and soil resistant treatments which make them easy to clean.
To pick the right carpet type, consider how you live in each room. There are several basic styles of carpets.
Nylon
It is the most durable and stain-resistant carpet available when treated with stain protection. It is the best choice for homes with pets and children and for a heavy traffic in hallways and stairs.
Polyester
Polyester is known for its luxurious look, feel, and wonderful variety of colors and styles. It’s a good value for homes with minimal traffic.
Olefin
It offers a good stain and moisture resistance: however, it scores below nylon and polyester for wear ability. It is best suited for loop pile construction or a high, very dense cut pile.
Wool
It is favored for its natural beauty which has natural soil-resistance qualities, but it is not inherently stain-resistant. Wool looks great for a long time and is well constructed.
Stain Resistant Carpet
If you have a high traffic area, you would want to choose a carpet with stain-resistance. The desire to protect your home with quality resistance won’t limit your choice of carpet styles and colors.
The primary factor in determining resistance against stain is carpet type such as nylon, polyester, olefin or wool. Most manufacturers apply stain protection treatments to enhance the natural stain resistant properties of any fiber.
Carpet Textures
It refers to how the fibers of the carpet are attached to the backing of the carpet. There are mainly three different types of carpet textures.
Cut Pile
This carpet consists of yarns that are cut at the ends, giving it the soft and making it a perfect choice for the comfortable areas of your home such as bedrooms or living rooms. There are five styles of cut pile carpets
1) Velvet
2) Saxony
3) Frieze
4) Shag
5) Cable
Each of these provides a different look and texture. The key difference among these styles is the amount of twist in the yarns that will influence the carpet’s durability.
Loop
These carpets have yarns that are looped and uncut on the carpet surface. Their pile height varies from low, tightly constructed to a more luxurious high-level pile. Loop carpet has strength and soil hiding capabilities and this style is ideal for heavy traffic areas. Berber is the most well-liked style of loop carpet that can be constructed as a level-loop or multi-loop carpet.
Cut-loop
As the name suggests, this carpet has a mixture of high cut tufts and lower loops in a range of sculptured patterns. These carpets offer good performance but are slightly less durable than loop carpets.
Dye Methods
There are two main methods for dying carpets, both methods offer great color.
Solution Dyed
The fiber is dyed before the fiber is woven. This method gives the carpet stronger stain and fades resistance along with resistance against harsh cleaning agents, such as bleach.
Continuous Dyed
This method is completed in the post-tufting process and is most suitable for woven carpet. Also, it is a process that achieves solid colors.
Color Selection
Think of your floor as the wall that connects all other design elements in the room. Consider the walls, windows and other furnishings when choosing a color scheme. Bring a fabric and color samples when you visit the store.
All these little elements make a difference in how your floor will look.
